When you played hide-and-seek-and-hide

When you surprised us with mickey mouse watches and that big smile across your face

When you sat through my horrendous math crash courses

When you doze off in between telly shows and even while reading the papers

When you got all excited and went all around warringah with us looking for my prom dress

When you say you're stressed & tired and I overhear

When you say you believe.

When I say I like chocolate biscuits and you bought them the very next day

When I get to have the passenger seat in the mornings

I remember, and I keep them right here.

(:

Because of its high-altitude exposure to the sun, Tibet has unusually high rates of eye disease, and because of the prevalence of Buddhist beliefs, blindness is often regarded as punishment for misdeeds in a previous life.

At the age of 26, Sabriye Tenberken, went to this very place to make these blind children believe that they deserve no less in the lives they have been given.
Some, like Ngudap, had been tied to their beds for years so that they didn't hurt themselves. Some couldn't walk, because their parents hadn't taught them. For 11 years," she said, "he was locked up in a dark room."

Now at 34, Sabriye has brought light into Ngudup's life and into the lives of the other 48 children at her school. She and her staff don't just teach the kids Tibetan, Chinese and English, and practical skills like making beds and operating computers. They also give their charges dignity.

Sabriye herself, is blind.

Blind from a retinal disease by the time she was 13, Sabriye who is German, studied for a master's degree in Tibetology at Bonn University and created Tibetan braille.

"We want to show the kids that they don't have to be ashamed. We want them to stand up and say, 'I am blind, not stupid!' They need to be proud of themselves, gather the strength to cope with discrimination and go out there as messengers for what they've learned."

Clearly, you don't need sight, to have vision.

When you are actually done with wallowing in self-pity and you look around you, at the things going on in the world to more than a billion other people, you will realise that there is more you can do for others, than what you can feel sorry for yourself about. It is not about saving a life, doing a 'noble' deed. It is about realising first, that this world is not about self-absorbed you.

Everyone is happy, even people you don't know. HAHAHAHA!

The world? It doesn't revolve around you. What happens to you? A result of what you chose (or chose not) to do. I don't want to end up like you.

You smugly passed down everything didn't you? You even passed down your bloody selfishness.

But then again, even after reading this, you probably wouldn't even have a meagre-half-of-a-clue that this is even about you. Because you left your sensibility back where you left all your friends- half a decade ago. and, for once, I actually don't care enough to let you know it in your face.

oh & FYI, sense and sensibility are two totally different things. clearly you do not lack the aforementioned. but your brains must have sucked out all of the latter from your pathetic, sorry clam-shell of a life.

I'm done.

now, on to a worthier say.

Do your best Hady! Aiyah, I know you will. && whatever the result, you're already THE Singapore Idol of 2006 for many Singaporeans out there. (okay Ling, this way, you get a bigger piece of the pie, right? hahaha)

Even the most seemingly expressionless have feelings. Even the most seemingly happy have things they keep at that corner in their minds, not for the whole world to see and watch them wallow in self-pity.

Truly one of Hughes' work of art that probably does not even receive as much response as the other poems in his collection, but, this is beautiful to me. not diebetically poignant, but the subtle revelation of his love for his baby girl definitely shows how Hughes is indeed as warm as human.

Full Moon and Little Frieda
A cool small evening shrunk to a dog bark and the clank of a bucket -
And you listening.
A spider's web, tense for the dew's touch.
A pail lifted, still and brimming - mirror
To tempt a first star to a tremor.
Crows are going home in the lane there, looping the hedges with their warm wreaths of breath -
A dark river of blood, many boulders,
Balancing unspilled milk.
'Moon!' you cry suddenly, 'Moon! Moon!'
The moon has stepped back like an artist gazing amazed at a work
That points at him amazed.

"My daddy was my hero, he was always there for me when I needed him," Irwin's eight-year-old daughter Bindi said after walking onto the "Crocoseum" stage to a standing ovation.

"We filmed together, caught crocodiles together and loved being in the bush together. I want to help endangered wildlife just like he did," she said, her finger running over the words as she read her farewell.

"CRIKEY!" G'bye Steve Irwin.

&& please be okay, Thailand.

no more ranting and raving on about how difficult all of this is.
at least we have a chance to do something guys.

so, yeah, FIGHTING!

I miss the knocks on the door

I miss the goodnights, sweet-dreams and see-you-tomorrows

I miss being myself without the expectations

I miss the hugs that came so naturally

I miss the enthusiastic answers to my inquisitive questions

I miss the understanding that seem to have diminished with age

& I realise now that as I was growing up, you guys were too. & somewhere along the way, something happened.

I don't know why I missed that turn.

I miss being your lil' girl.

FIGHTING!!

So, it's been 5 years since The september 11th. Babies born after live as reminders of the fathers they never knew. families incomplete at thanks-giving, christmas, and new year's eve. lives turned upside-down, inside-out. it's like they took the lives not only of the demised but reached for and crushed every soul who lived through it, and the surviving kins of those who didn't.
All in the name of Justice.
If there's one word in the dictionary that isn't relative, (since everything else seems to be), it would be Justice. There is no way to vindicate that act with any intention. If your means to a noble end saws and shreds the undeserving innocent, where is your justification?
Why couldn't you source the problem to your woes and deal with its roots, instead of blaming and hating?
I hope the surviving live to be stronger, and the lives of the incomplete to be a mirage of completeness.
bitterness breeds bitterness.
Oh Revenge, why didst thou not hide thy face?

Lunch was great.

Papa was fun.(oh do you know we both agree that the super power we would wish for, is Invisibilty? we couldn't stop rattling on and on about how much we could do with it)

Mummy was spontaneous. (yay to retro-madness! mummy wants Speed. like 'Dash'.)

Marilyn was annoying but entertaining. (she wants Strength, like 'Mr Incredible'.)

11.30pm Saturday chat-conference dates with the girls are love.

Random messages from you to me are like Isaac Newton and the apple tree.

I realise now, that I don't have to be number one and I already know how it feels like to be the luckiest 5 year old, standing in front of a mega candy store with 5 bucks in hand.

There are always things to be happy about, and I have all of you, now.

/ps: what super-power would YOU want? tag it! tag it!
